When searching for systems or anything else for that matter, admins are use to * as the wild card character. Even though SQL's LIKE query needs %. Detect * and support it as a wild card character.

Capture all local groups, the members of those groups and local user accounts. Local user accounts should also show if the account is disabled, when the password was last set, and the password age.

Option to use the global catalog to inventory systems forest-wide.

Report on a given computer that shows the hardware and software added/removed over time.

Provide a way to display error log information via the web interface. This is especially important when you manually poll and it fails. Unless you followup and dig into the event log, you don't know if it failed.

By default it seems the Netpoint web site is wide open. I think it should be the other way around. By default it should be restricted to administrators using integrated authentication or even basic. Netpoint users would have to be granted access to the web interface. I would even take this so far as to include roles: admins, view-only, restricted etc.

Provide user configurable headers and footers when printing. Include common things like page number, confidential, company name.

When displaying search results, include the polling date/time.

Since many users may not be database admins, and only are running SQL Express because the app requires it, provide a management interface via the web to backup and restore the Netpoint database.

Offer other ways to download or export data such as CSV, tab delimited, or XML

Instead of VNC or the like, open a remote PowerShell session on the remote computer. Include an option for alternate credentials.

This data is only useful if you have a way to look at history and trends.

All search results, graphs include uninstalled apps. Woud like ability to disable tracking of uninstalled apps.

Now you can just select one option.
Change it to multiple options

Netpoint makes an excellent software license management platform. Having the ability to "turn off" the hardware inventory would speed up the time it takes to inventory managed systems, and would present less "clutter" since we could focus only on software.

On larger networks, spread out with remote offices, it can take from 30 minutes to two hours to poll a machine. Being able to only search for new machines, or run a scan on a specific subnet, would cut the time drastically and prevent having to restart (and rerun 5 days worth of polling) if the process fails.
